Raven Shall Live

Houston, Texas — Our Cover Story

Raven is 36 years old — and fighting for her life against colon cancer.

Elementary school teacher. Khaza's mom. The sweetest soul our family has ever known. And she's not done yet.

“I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.” — Psalm 118:17

Raven in a red dress holding her son Khaza in front of a stone waterfall as he kisses her cheek.

The Story

The night we almost lost her — and the morning we didn't.

On the night of May 25th, the doctors called our family into the hospital. The cancer had caused a leak near Raven's kidney, and a severe infection called sepsis was moving through her body. They told us she might not have a day left. We gathered around her bed and we prayed over her all night.

Morning came — and Raven was still in it. That was almost two months ago. She is still here. She is still ours.

Her doctors have been honest with us: they have run out of treatments they can offer her. But Raven hasn't run out of fight. She asks God for more time. She told Him she is not ready to go — and He keeps waking her up, day after day, one day at a time.

Pearls, sunshine, and grit

She wants more mornings with Khaza.
More first days of school.
More time.

And our family believes God is not done with her story — He has answered her prayers too many times for us to stop asking now.

The Ask

Please give what you can.

Whatever the amount, it comes straight to Raven's family — and every gift builds three things, in this order, every time:

Her care

The specialized treatment her local doctors can't provide — and everything her fight requires.

Her household

Rent, bills, groceries, and Khaza's needs — so a teacher's home stays steady while she heals.

Khaza's future

Everything beyond her care and living costs starts a scholarship fund for her son, in his mother's honor.

When God moves — not if — every dollar beyond her care builds what comes next.

Full of Life

This is who we're fighting for.

Look at her. This is what fighting looks like.

Joy, under a denim brim

Her smile does some of the fighting

She brings her own sunshine

Khaza in denim and a cowboy hat hands his mother Raven a red rose; both are smiling.

Every rose is for her

Royalty runs in the family

Standing on the promise

Four generations, one heartbeat
